Listen to Quality Control's current favourite tunes.

Cocomangas resident DJ Quality Control mixes party pleasing Pop, RnB and Electro to ensure you have a fun night out. You can catch him behind the decks for regular Cocomangas parties 'Booty Shakin Beats", "Ultra Funky Sounds" and in the main room every Saturday night.

Which 5 tunes would you say are 'so hot right now' and why?
Bit of a hard one for me to answer really as a lot of the tunes I consider 'so hot right now' aren't played in my sets simply because they don't fit Byron Bay's style, and a lot of songs that really rock the crowd in my sets aren't tunes I'd consider 'so hot right now', but I'll do my best and give you a little from both sides :)

1. Guru Josh Project "Infinity 2008" [ Klaas Remix ] - Hottest dance track ATM for me, great electro feel, with a very interesting beat structure. This track is great to use as a backing to lay an upbeat RnB track over the top.
2. Pitbull "Krazy" - A lot of RnB artists are using dance style instrumentals lately and I think it’s really working, this track is no exception. It uses the "Cream" instrumental, which even by itself, is a rockin track.
3. September "Cry For You" - Easy to mix in to a lot of things, gets the crowd singin along, plus I enjoy it as well :) A winner in my book!
4. DJ Khaled "Out Here Grinding" - I love my RnB, and DJ Khaled is moving some great stuff with top artists lately. Gets me pumped anytime of the day or night.
5. Basshunter "All I Ever Wanted" - I've been feeling the high NRG lately... This track isn't as well known as Basshunter's "Now You’re Gone" but it still pumps the crowd when the tempo's right up there.

Which music genre do you prefer to play?
Overall, I prefer to play current club style RnB, but as Byron is a tourism orientated town, it attracts a wide range of tastes in music, and as a result we cannot be limited to just one genre or style of music... I play a mix of top 40 RnB, commercial dance/house, top 40 pop and a selection of retro. I try to please the entire crowd as well as playing a personally satisfying set.
I have a lot of respect for DJ's that can rock a crowd with a massive electro or dance set, but I think the real challenge is to be able to move between genres and keep it sounding good. There’s not a lot of club DJs out there that are prepared to mix pop with electro, but when you get it right the crowd loves it!

Do you make and play your own mixes?
Yep :) I have a couple of remix tracks that I made back in the day that I use now and again in a set, but my most recent is a mixed compilation of RnB and Dance. It’s more of a demo really, but it’s been helpful in sets a few times lately. You can check it out on my Myspace page and also grab it as a free download.

What can I expect from a DJ Quality Control set?
Expect to hear tunez you know and love, whether they be old or new, that cross a range of genres. I try to play for the crowd, so expect to hear something you like (hopefully haha). Expect a DJ who’s not afraid to play the most commercial music... if you digg Britney Spears chances are if you request it I'll play it :) Basically you can expect a professional set with tight mixes and blends whether I'm playing slow RnB, high NRG electro, retro or mixing even between them...

What is your favourite thing to do in Byron Bay?
There are a lot of good times to be had in Byron, but as cheesy as it sounds, I'd have to say the most fun I have while in Byron is while I'm in the DJ booth at Coco's with a full floor on a Saturday night haha :)

Booty Shakin' Beats runs every Thursday, and Ultra Funky Sounds happens every Monday at Cocomangas. Each Saturday night has two floors of crowd pleasing tunes. For more of a bio on Quality Control (and more mixes) check his Myspace.
